Microperus fragosus

Biology:

Browne, 1961: This species has been found in small cut trees of about 8 cm diameter but none of its host plants have been identified and the form of the nest has not been observed. In other parts of its range it has been recorded from species of the families Myristicaceae, Sterculiaceae and Tiliaceae and it has also been attracted to light. Hulcr and Cognato, 2012: Complex tunnel systems with multiple brood chambers and several entrances in some small species (Blandford, 1961). Communal breeding as in related Xyleborinus likely (P. Biedermann, pers. comm.).
