Beaver and Hulcr, 2008: Previously recorded host trees are Dipterocarpus kinstleri King, Dryobalanops oblongifolia Dyer, Hopea ferra lanessan, Shorea macrophylla (de Vriese) P.S. Ashton (as S. gysbertsiana), S. ovata Dyer ex Brandis, Shorea spp. (all Dipterocarpaceae) (Browne 1961; Schedl 1964; Beaver and Browne 1979). It usually attacks small stems of 4-10 cm diameter. Browne (1961) illustrates the gallery system, which is typical of the genus. Recorded brood sizes are 23 (all emerging on a single day) (Beaver and Browne 1979) and over 50 (Browne 1961). Beaver and Browne, 1978: Recorded from species of Dipterocarpus, Dryobalanops and Shorea (Dipterocarpaceae). A brood of 23 females emerged on the same day from a single gallery in H. ferrea. The gallery system resembles that of Arixyleborus. The brood chamber was 1.2 cm long and 0.4 cm wide. Browne, 1961: This species has been found infesting small, cut or fallen trees of about 4-10 cm diameter. The nest has a short entrance tunnel ending in a rather large, terminal brood chamber in the longitudinal plane.
