Xyleborinus andrewesii
Beaver and Browne, 1978: Gallery system with a curving entrance gallery leading to a fairly large longitudinally enlarged brood chamber. Browne, 1961: This small pinhole borer is widely distributed in the tropics of the Old World, and has now been recorded in East Africa, Seychelles, India, Burma, Indo-China, the Andaman Islands, Java and Borneo. The tunnels do not penetrate very deeply into the wood. The entrance tunnel of the nest is radial or oblique to a depth of about 2 cm and then takes a circumferential course for a short distance encircling the pith in small hosts. At the end of the tunnel is a rather large brood chamber in the longitudinal plane and this is usually markedly deeper below than above the tunnel.(EOL) Hulcr and Cognato, 2012: Uncommon, but with large area of occurrence throughout Paleotropics, recently introduced to USA (Okins & Thomas, 2010).
